When in Rome, do as the Romans do. When in Germany, much the same. Of course one must learn the language first; so to that end – the word of the day.
Stammtisch: a table reserved for regulars. Found in gasthouse restaurants, often next to the fireplace. A social faux pas for tourists to assume that they may sit at this table even if it is empty at the time.
